A previous blog told you all about how EastEnders actress Gillian Wright (Jean Slater in the soap) is set to turn on the Christmas lights in Thame. Now it’s time to tell you about other illuminating Christmas events in the South Oxfordshire district where so many episodes of Midsomer Murders have been filmed.
Hopefully Santa will have recovered from his exertions by 2nd December: the day when he will pop up again in Henley-on-Thames as he sets up his grotto in a venue called The Barn. Carol singers, Punch and Judy shows, and a children’s torch-lit parade will also feature before the town’s Mayor flicks on the lights.
Wishy out and about in Wallingford for ChristmasSadly, Santa will be missing out Wallingford – which doubles as Causton in Midsomer Murders – as he tours South Oxfordshire’s hot spots. However, Wishy the Human Postbox will be in this bustling market town on Sunday 4th December and promises to pass on any Christmas requests that children might have to Santa. The Mayor will be switching on the Christmas lights at 4:30pm.
For fans of the stage there’s ‘The Snow Queen’ at the Kenton Theatre on Saturday 17 December to look forward to, a carol evening at Chinnor and Princes Risborough Railway on Tues 20 December, and Ding Dong and Jingle Christmas Bells at the River and Rowing Museum in Henley-on-Thames.
And if you can’t make the ‘Ding Dong and Jingle’ then just wait one day longer and again look to the River and Rowing Museum to enjoy Christmas with Mr Toad and Friends.
